I honestly don't think anyone has ever demo'ed a Bray amp (not even Thorny) with a hard ash strat! That, my friend, would be the ultimate test.Yes Ralph, no 2203 or 2204 I ever played sounded ANYTHING like that. The thing to remember about Bray's brown clips are that although he has the proper pickup and tremolo, his franky is made of black korina, which is why is brown sound is super warm and mahogany-like (almost like certain tracks off of VHII). What I think everyone hears in Rockstah's soundclips are his hard ash franky with the proper pickup and his dynamite mixing! That's the real guitar that makes the brown sound what it is, although Les Paul's can capture it pretty damn well, too.

Because I can speak from personal experience here and hearing the Bray through the perfect VH-esque greenback cab setup, the Bray sounds like VH live, which judging by live clips of Mark's amps in the hands of others where it sounds more like a Tim Caswell or a Slash-ier amp (which is pretty badass, too!), means that the Bray comes out on top in my opinion! Plus with Bray's "wife knob", you get that great attenuated sound that Rockstah's PPIMV doesn't capture as well, not to mention Bray's amps with the presence set super high sound variac'ed to the max! It really captures the basic amp tone that Ed had, minus the pedals (well, maybe not minus the EQ). Hey dude, first off, let me say, I love both David's and Mark's (RIP) work, but I have to be biased and say: BRAY BRAY BRAY, ALL THE WAY!!! The thing about the Bray is that it's got that great brightness and crispness and organic woodiness that the Rockstah Mod5 doesn't capture as well as it did out of the hands of Mark (RIP). NOT A 1 TRICK PONY, PROBABLY A 7 TRICK LOL IT CAN ACDC, VH1,II,FAIR WARNING AND EVEN RATT N EARLY METALLICA IF YOU SET IT FOR THOSE. THE AMP VERSION I SPECIALIZE IN IS THE MAIN HOLY GRAIL JOSE/CAMERON DESIGN. ON OR OFFīUT AFTER TONE CHASIN AND LEARNING FOR A BUNCH OF YRS I FOUND THE OTHER DESIGNS LIMITED IN THEIR TONE.

THE BRIGHT SG KINDA REPLICATED THE BRIGHTNESS OF A FLOYD STRAT. I HAD MY SG PLUGGED INTO A ZOOM PEDAL WITH A SLAPBACK DELAY AND SLIGHT REVERB AND GOT SUPER CLOSE IF NOT SPOT ON. I NEVER BEEN AN EDDIE CHASER BUT NOW THAT I GOT THE AMP I WANT A GUITAR TO HAVE IT IN MY ARSENAL NOMATTER WHAT I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! ITS GREAT!!! I USUALLY USE A LES PAUL BUT TO GET THAT REAL VH SOUND I NEED A DIFFERENT GUITAR WHICH ADD UP IN THE OVERALL RECIPE FOR HIS TONE. I HAVE SOMETHING WITH AN ALNICO II AROUND 9.4K THAT IM GOIN TO USE! POPLAR BODY,MAPLENECK,REAL FLOYD AND A PAF STYLE PICKUP. ITS MAKING ME WANT A SUPERSTRAT REAL BAD AGAIN. HAD A FRIEND WITH THE CHARVEL EVH COME BY N PLUG IN. It is the "0riginal" Jose atomica circuit blended with a vht style bass boost resonance circuit. The Cameron amp circuits are what i based my ampline around.
The others are capable of more "distortion" which has to be backed off anyway to record or mic. I DO EVERY VERSION IF THATS WHAT THEY WANT BUT TO "MY EARS, the Cameron version was the best.
